2015 starts now. As does the pre-season focus on your racing plans and preparations. Compiled here are more-than-a-few videos from 2 years of /ShakeDown University Racing Skills Training.
* Everything from Mindset to Setup to Cornering Techinques to Sponsorship ‘Money Hunting’. And a bit more via some additional /ShakeDown videos related to racing ‘How To’s’.
Sit a bit, take notes, learn, enjoy, and apply what’s relevant to you - In-car and on-track or geared up in your undershorts behind the wheel of your favorite sim driving game.
* Here we go with the rest of the /ShakeDown University video classes......
PS- A few words about /DRIVE and me.
First, I’ve been mostly quiet as - a] Less said = More professional in deals like this, b] Especially when you have nothing great to say.
Second, putting these vids out is NOT to suggest I’ll be back with /Drive. Don’t think ‘make-up sex’ is in anyone’s future. But, I won’t lie - These videos are an intended reminder of what we do, after being off-screen for most of 2014.
What I will say is this - /Drive mgt. [you can translate that how you wish] must think it has its reasons for not asking me back to their network in 2014 / ‘15, or as part of it’s NBCSN exercise. And you may agree with that decision. Fine.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say there weren’t issues. But, they’ll stay in my locker room. And I’m not suggesting I was a total ‘Virgin Mary’. It takes 2 to create [and/or fix] problems.
I also know I was a ‘Style and Content’ departure from the typical /Drive ‘cars-on-road’, tire smoke, drifts, ‘hypercar-factory-visits-with-cathedral-music’ format.
* ‘Joe Pesci seatbelted to a desk with a glorifed PowerPoint pitch’ made for easy fodder for some of you guys. BTW- It was never my choice to just be a ‘studio guy’.
Some commenters have written I was off’ed because of view-counts. FYI - The #1 /ShakeDown show sits at 568,000 views [BTW - Our visit to Mike Spinelli’s After/Drive gave him HIS #1 show at 608,000 views], the Top 5 /SD shows are averaging +400k views, the Top 10 +300k avg., the Top 50 average +100k. I know this was not Chris Harris / Matt Farah levels, but......hey.
And yet, there were Leo [and team] shows like these -
* The entire/SD Playlist [149-ish shows] is HERE -
I will always appreciate the opportunities given to me by FastLaneDaily and /Drive. They provided me the chance to be seen and get known. Thanks.
I really appreciate the RESPECT more than a few of you fans showed /ShakeDown and my commitment - To the work I did, To trying to deliver fun / interesting / though-provoking stuff, To pushing as hard as I could to be as good as I can, To creating /SD shows different from the marketplace of Auto and Motorsport content out there [while attempting to fit in with the other /Drive programs and maybe expand the diversity of /Drive’s audience demos [PS - My +12% Female Viewers demo was highest of all the hosts. WTF! And I bet most /SD viewers actually had a credit card.......vs an allowance from Mom and Dad!].
However, like any athlete or racer that gets cut by a team, you learn from the experience, fix your mistakes, and vow to compete that much harder.
Right now, I have to be focused on my other work. But in 2015, I’ll be back doing something Motorsport AND Automotive, either independently or via a new home.
Soon, I’ll be soliciting support, sponsors, and/or distribution partners. I DO have a Business Plan - Content, Production, Audience, Marketing..... Because [uh] ‘Biz’ is kinda what I do!
So, here’s to 2015!
